1. Give your web site a background.

Put in a background that doesn't overwhelm your viewers.

Backgrounds should be tiled to blend.

(We don't want to see 17 pictures of a teddy bear that make it hard to read the text on the screen.)

2. Put in an image or images that you want people to see when they come to your site.

Remember, one picture of a teddy bear (instead of 17) can be interesting!

3. Design your link bar by right-clicking on it and changing the appearance.

This is the one place where I recommend using the themes that are already available to you. Making buttons can be a pain.

4. Insert a link to have people email you comments.

This can be on the page or in your link bar on every page.

5. If you want, add some introductory text. Just don't add too much text.

If you want to add music or animation, feel free to do so. Just don't make it overwhelming. Remember, the point is to get people's attention, not to distract them and drive them insane. (You might, for example, want to put in a way for them to stop the music.)

Lastly, remember that this is a class assignment. Yes, it should be personalized. However it should still be school-appropriate. If you want to make another website that is completely personalized once you have learned how to do so, you are welcome to. This is not the place for that, though. :)
